Privacy Policy for LockBox

1. Data Collection

LockBox does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or media content.

LockBox does not require an account, sign-up, or login. All files you add to LockBox remain on your device and are never uploaded to external servers.

2. Local Storage & Encryption

All content stored in LockBox is encrypted locally on your device using AES-256 encryption. LockBox does not provide cloud storage or remote access to your data.

You remain fully responsible for safeguarding access to your device and authentication credentials.

### Encrypted Backup Export

LockBox includes an optional encrypted backup feature. When you export a backup, a `.lockbox` file is created on your device. This file is encrypted with a password you choose — LockBox cannot access its contents. You are solely responsible for where you save or share the exported file. LockBox does not transmit this file or have any access to it once it leaves the app.

3. Camera Access

LockBox uses the device camera for two purposes, both fully on-device:

- **Private Camera.** You can take photos and videos directly into your encrypted vault without them appearing in your Photos library. - **Break-In Alerts (optional).** If you enable Break-In Alerts, LockBox uses the front camera to silently capture a single still image after a failed unlock attempt. Captured images are encrypted and stored locally inside the vault, are visible only to you, can be deleted at any time, and are never transmitted off the device.

LockBox does not stream, upload, or share camera content with any third party.

4. Photo Library Access

LockBox can read from and write to your Photos library only with your permission, and only for actions you initiate:

- **Importing into the vault.** When you choose to add media from your Photos library, LockBox copies the selected items into its encrypted vault. Your originals are never modified — they remain in the Photos library unless you choose to delete them yourself. - **Exporting from the vault.** When you choose to export an item, LockBox can save the decrypted copy back to your Photos library.

LockBox does not scan, index, upload, or otherwise access your photo library beyond the items you explicitly select.

5. File Imports

LockBox lets you import files from the Files app and other document sources you choose. Any file you import is encrypted on your device and is not transmitted anywhere by LockBox.

6. Authentication & Biometrics

LockBox protects access to the vault using:

- **A 6-digit PIN that you set within the app.** This PIN is stored locally on your device and is required to unlock the vault. LockBox cannot recover or reset your PIN, and the PIN is never transmitted off the device. - **Optional biometric authentication** (Face ID or Touch ID) using Apple's system APIs. LockBox does not access, store, process, or transmit biometric information — biometric data is handled entirely by the operating system.

### Decoy Vault (optional)

LockBox offers an optional Decoy Vault: a separate PIN that, when entered, opens an alternate empty or decoy vault instead of your real one. The decoy PIN, like your real PIN, is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted.

7. In-App Purchases

LockBox offers optional premium subscriptions and a lifetime purchase via Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). LockBox does not collect or store any payment or billing information.

8. Third-Party Services & Tracking

LockBox does not use third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or marketing SDKs.

LockBox does not request the App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use the device's advertising identifier (IDFA).

9. Data Retention & Deletion

All vault data is stored only on your device. You can delete individual items, albums, Break-In Alert photos, and decoy vault contents from within the app at any time.

If you delete LockBox from your device, all vault data, settings, encryption keys, and Break-In Alert records are removed along with the app. Because LockBox does not transmit your data, there is nothing stored outside your device for us to delete.

10. Children's Privacy

LockBox does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated if LockBox's functionality changes. Any updates will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
